Spotheater SH1000 is a top-class infrared (IR) device developed in Sweden, designed for the quick, safe, and gentle removal of old paint and varnish from wooden surfaces.
Why choose an infrared device over a heat gun?
Traditional heat guns operate at very high temperatures (over 600°C), which pose serious risks:
- Fire safety: Hot air can ignite dust and shavings under boards or in construction gaps.
- Health risk: At high temperatures, old paint (especially lead paint) vaporizes into toxic fumes. Spotheater maintains a temperature below 400°C, preventing lead from vaporizing.
- Wood damage: A heat gun dries out and "burns" the wood fibers, making them brittle. Spotheater heats the paint layer from the inside, preserving the wood's natural moisture.
Recommendation
For maximum effectiveness, especially when working with old, hard synthetic or Soviet-era oil paints, we recommend treating the surface with linseed oil wax before heating:
"Apply a thin layer of linseed oil wax on the paint before heating. The oil migrates through micro-cracks to the wood surface, lubricating the bond between the paint and the wood. When heated with Spotheater, the oil expands, literally 'lifting' the paint from the surface."
Technical Specifications
| Power | 1000 W |
| Weight | Approximately 1.5 kg (especially lightweight and handy) |
| Heating area | Approximately 280 x 100 mm |
| Heating time | 15–60 seconds (depending on the number of paint layers) |
Main Advantages
- Lightweight: Less weight compared to analogs reduces hand fatigue during prolonged work.
- Durability: A robust metal casing designed for intensive use on construction sites.
- Efficiency: Infrared rays "vibrate" the paint molecules, making them as soft as butter, easily removable with a scraper.
